ACE Health Coach Certification

I recently received a letter from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) telling me they have changed the certification title of “Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach” to just “Health Coach“.  That seems easy.  Here is a little more information about this certification.

The American Council on Exercise website states that the Health Coach certification is:  “Intended for fitness, wellness, health care, human resources and allied health professionals who want to make a resounding difference in the way people live, ACE Health Coach emphasizes fitness, nutrition and the science behind true behavior modification. As the only NCCA-accredited certification of its kind, ACE Health Coach helps professionals connect with people in a way that makes them not only want to change, but believe they can do it long-term.”

The cost of the exam is $399, but can be cheaper if you already hold a certification from ACE.  In order to take the exam you must:

  • Be 18 years old
  • Have a current government-issued ID with photo and signature
  • Hold a current adult CPR/AED certificate prior to registering for the exam
  • Submit supporting documentation for one of the following:
    • An NCCA-accredited certification in fitness, nutrition, health care, wellness, human resources or a related field
    • An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in fitness, exercise science, nutrition, health care, wellness, human resources or a related field, or comparable work experience in any of these specified industries
